Smoky Quartz, Spessartine & Muscovite on Feldspar

Beautifully balanced and adorable small cabinet combination from this well known Chinese locale with excellent color and contrast. The impressive centrally placed 3.0 cm tall very glassy and lustrous gemmy quartz crystal with rich smoky color and well-striated prism faces dramatically dominates the piece. The large smoky and sawed feldspar matrix are visibly enhanced by the scattered, beautiful gemmy cinnamon-orange spessartines, to 5 mm, a few more smokies and the striking upright 2.7 cm wedge of parallel-growth muscovite plates. I particularly like the way the gemmy spessartines are scattered on the smokies, muscovite and matrix. Very minor periphery wear is certainly a minimal detraction to this very well-composed 360-degree piece. A fine combination from the locale from older finds of the late 1990s or early 2000s.
