Sharp spessartine garnet crystals to 2.7 cm are the highlight of this fine combination specimen. Shengus is a region with many small pegmatite digs, and it is particularly famous not for the aquamarines, but for these large garnet crystals. However, most of them are found etched, deformed, or cracked in ugly manner - these are sharp and undamaged! This makes them notable for the locality, and impactful without the usual distractions of cracking in the large crystals from here. Pieces like this tended to come out in the late 1990s and early 2000s, and have not been common in recent years. The association with a razor sharp smoky quartz as the display matrix, really takes the garnet to another level and makes it a combo specimen worth way more than the sum of the parts. From the extensive Pakistani suite of the Meieran collection, built over the last 30 years as these were coming out, this is an opportunity to get these modern treasures at fair prices.
