Smoky Quartz (sceptered)

Item Description

This is a vintage example of the large Gamsberg Smokies. This piece consists of a large, single 21 cm milky Quartz plate completely covered on one side by dozens upon dozens of Smoky Quartz crystals. The central crystals are up to 7 cm in size and are opaque, while each end is festooned with dozens of gemmy, doubly-terminated Smokies. The Smokies have excellent luster and they range up to 4 cm in length. As to be expected, this hard rock mining does occasionaly result in some damage to some of the crystals. It is unavoidable, but does not detract from the overall aesthetics. This is a good, quality Gamsberg Smoky Quartz.
