Item Description

A really cool Smoky Quartz crystal from the famous pegmatite districts of Colorado that have produced the most famous Amazonite specimens in the world. This piece is an attractive hexagonal "floater" specimen that is crystallized all the way around. The base of the crystal was probably contacted at some point, but it's completely recrystallized, making it a complete "floater". It somewhat resembles the so called "Fenster" or "window" Quartz specimens that we've all seen from various localities like Brazil and the European Alps, and it slight overgrowths on the faces. It has a soft reddish color (from iron inclusions) and certainly looks different from most of the Quartz specimens we're used to seeing from here. If you're a Quartz collector, or if you collect minerals from the central Colorado pegmatites, don't miss out on this one.
