Item Description
This is a good quality Smoky Quartz from one of the most storied and well known districts in Colorado. The pegmatites near the Lake George area of Colorado have produced what most collectors and dealers consider to be the finest Amazonite specimens from the standpoint of superb color, top quality, wonderful display specimens and excellent associations. This particular specimen is does not have any Amazonite, but features a 6.1 cm sharp, well-formed Smoky Quartz crystals with rich internal color sitting on cream colored Microcline matrix with a selective deposition of micro metallic Hematite. Interestingly, the Smoky Quartz is actually doubly-terminated, as you can see a really attractive multi-terminated "end" on the bottom of the piece. There are also some tiny pseduomorphs of Hematite after Siderite on the bottom of the piece as well. Aesthetic and good quality. Don't miss out on this great Colorado "classic".
