Item Description
A large, thin, display plate of unusual aspect for Colorado, featuring lustrous smoky quartz perched on contrasting white matrix of feldspar. This is NOT the typical smoky quartz you would expect from Colorado, and that is what makes it so cool, and pretty. Usually, they are a little more dark and grungy or coated, but these have a luster and sharp form that make you think more of other localities first. The contrast of black on white is striking! It is a display sized plate, and just something unusual for the collector of USA or Colorado material. Smoky Quartz to about 3 cm, and no damage to the display face. Donated by James and Charelle Webb, to support the Mineralogical Record. It comes with a custom lucite base for display.
