Item Description

Here we have a showy and fine quality display specimen from the California Blue Mine in Southern California. This locality has sporadically produced some very attractive Smoky Quartz specimens along with some nice Aquamarine crystals over the years, but specimens are seldom seen on the market. This piece hosts a few gorgeous, sharp, lustrous, very gemmy Smoky Quartz crystals measuring up to 3.1 cm, aesthetically flaring out of cream colored Albite matrix. There are a few small dings on a couple of the Smoky Quartz crystals, so the piece is not pristine, but you really can't see any damage unless you're looking closely, so the piece would look great inside of a display case. Great quality, size and crystallization on this one! If you collect Quartz crystals or minerals of California, this is a wonderful example of this elusive material. Valued at $850. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
