Item Description
This beautiful smoky quartz on adularia is a perfect cabinet specimen. The smoky quartz crystals are up to 4.2 cm and are treated with a Cobalt 19 energy process. When placed in an oven at 400° F for a few hours the quartz will turn back to its colorless state. This happens due to an aluminum molecule in the structure of the quartz. The Hamilton Hill Mine was the most productive mine in Arkansas in the 19th century, according to old reports. Modern specimens are rare, and were collected by Jamez Zigras here around 2012.
