Smoky Quartz (near ''floater'' specimen) included with Rutile (ex Brian Kosnar Collection)

Item Description

A large and impressive doubly-terminated crystal of silvery colored Smoky Quartz from Novo Horizonte, Bahia, Brazil. This sharp, well-formed crystal has broad, pronounced faces on all sides, including one notably large pyramidal face on the back, and were it not for a point of contact on the back, the piece would essentially be a complete "floater", as it's crystallized all the way around. There's even a smaller secondary doubly-terminated Quartz crystal that is flaring off the top of the piece for an added touch. The cherry on top of this robust Quartz crystal is that it is filled with dozens of acicular light golden colored Rutile "needles", some of which are not just straight prisms, but actually form almost "horsetail"-esque wispy groups with curved flowing forms. Overall it's a very attractive and fine quality example of these famous and desirable Quartz/Rutile specimens from one of the most well-known Brazilian localities. Valued at $2,000-$2,500.
