Smoky Quartz - Morion Style (Chet Lemanski Coll.)

This obscure quartz-barite mine in Bahia State has produced outstanding specimens of "Morion" or black quartz. The very fine single crystal has typical form. The very sharp, highly lustrous bipyamid with no prism faces is nearly opaque, with just a bit of translucence on the lower edges. The front and one side of this striking single is essentially pristine. The back and part of the other side are contacted, but there is very little actual damage. This impressive crystal from the Chet Lemanski Collection was from the lot of specimens collected and marketed in 1996 and quite famous among collectors of the time. Seldom on the market today. An excellent example for the quartz or locality collector. Valued $1500 because this REALLY is a unique find and style, and the specimen is a perfect size and shape for so many collectors.
