Item Description
A very aesthetic cluster of glassy, smoky quartz crystals from the Akchatau Mine of Kazakhstan. The left, isolated smoky has a nifty phantom and the crystals on the right have unusual, white tips. These crystal approach Swiss or French smokies in quality. Smoky quartz specimens from Akchatau are uncommon on the market and are VERY UNCOMMON in this quality. The complete all-around cluster is in excellent condition, overall. The trivial termination edgewear on the isolated smoky and on the largest smoky are certainly not detracting and the broken crystal on the side of the smoky cluster has very minimal impact on this fine piece. The specimen was collected in 1990, according to the label, when the great flood of fine former Soviet Union material was coming out. ex Hauck Collection
