Quartz crystals known as 'Gwindels' are one of the most fascinating forms of Quartz to be found. Indeed, they are so interesting, unusual, and attractive that they hold a place of distinction within the entire mineral kingdom, period. In Gwindels, the Quartz crystals stack, side by side and on top of each other, creating these wonderful and intriguing vertical clusters. This well-formed, completely GEMMY Gwindel has a perfectly water-clear smoky color that is pleasing to the eye. The terminations of the crystals are razor-sharp, and there is just a small amount of rotation between the crystals along the a-axis, which is another very distinctive characteristic of this habit. This is a superb miniature with great clarity, high luster, and excellent form. It is from one of the classic localities in Grisons, Switzerland.
