Smoky Quartz (ex Charlie Key quartz coll.)

Item Description

Here is a fine skeletal Smoky Quartz crystal from the Goboboseb Mountains in Namibia. This dramatic piece is very glassy and very transparent through much of the interior. The face-on view shows the skeletal nature of the crystal right in the center of the piece where it's highlighted by several, distinct, parallel growth terminations and you can see the lighter smoky area in the central portion of the crystal that contrasts sharply with the darker smoky margin that encompasses much of the crystal. This view also shows faint amethystine areas in the central part of the crystal! Either side view shows the prominent dark smoky area around the periphery and the lighter area in the center. These views also show off the innumerable gas inclusions within the crystal for added interest and aesthetics. The multiple terminations, unusual form, skeletal features and shading variations of the smoky color within the crystal are highly noteworthy and desirable! Every turn of this sharp crystal presents an entirely different perspective of the outside and interior of this incredible crystal. It's complete-all around and only shows contacting near the milky colored base where it was intergrown with other Quartz crystals in the pocket. It is an excellent piece from this locality. Ex. Charlie Key Quartz collection, which he sold to Marshall Sussman around 2010. We had this, sold, and got it back. It is a special, atypical, and beautiful specimen. Valued $2000.
