Smoky Quartz (Bonisoli Coll.)

One usually thinks of Switzerland or France for fine Alpine smoky quartz specimens. Here is a definite exception with a striking CABINET specimen from near Monte Bianco. A fabulous, 3.1, gem, water-clear, light smoky quartz crystal is elegantly perched on the edge of matrix, which hosts numerous smaller smokies. The clarity of the crystal and the sharpness of the termination are stunning. The cavern on one corner, with two entrances, is lined with smokies. Some bruising and periphery wear is noted to smaller crystals, but is of minor consequence to the beauty of this gorgeous smoky. Material from this less well-known Italian locality is seldom on the market and this is an excellent example. Ex Bonisoli Collection. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
