Smoky Quartz and Schorl (RARE California combo)

VERY RARE large combination from this less well-known extinct locality in Plumas County, northern California - Thompson Peak. A large and RARE smoky quartz with stunning multiple glassy, lustrous, transparent to translucent terminations is richly and dramatically embedded and included with a multitude on lustrous, jet-black schorl prism sections, to about 2.5 cm long. MINDAT lists quartz for the locality, but there are NO examples in the photographic gallery for the locale. 1119 grams or 2.5 pounds mass. Specimens from here date from the mid-1940s to 1980s. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. Very rare, perhaps unique combination from Thompson Peak. A must for the species or locality collector.
