Smoky Quartz and Hyalite Opal

Item Description

Impressive single crystal of Smoky Quartz from the Erongo Mountains. There are actually two generations of growth here, with a layer of Hyalite Opal encased within. The luster is very good on the prism faces and superb on the termination. In addition, the termination is gemmy all the way down to the crystal's core (level with the sides), causing the termination to look like a smoky glass pyramid. Naturally, the base is contacted, and there is some growth contact on the back. The presentation side is in excellent condition.
