Item Description

This a beautiful small cabinet sized Quartz specimen from this famous locality at Hallelujah Junction in Nevada. A stout single crystal with beautiful internal colors ranging from light smoky hues to colorless Quartz to a glowing purple Amethyst shade on each end. Speaking of each end, this crystal is doubly-terminated, with a more traditional defined pyramidal termination on the top, but the underside reveals dozens of small individual multi-terminated faces all over. I think I could go so far as to say this is a "floater" specimen as I really don't see a point of contact anywhere. Additionally, at the central point of the underside of the piece, you can see a chalky white area where a "stem" of Quartz once grew, but later broke away and the piece healed ("re-healed") itself. That "stem" would have actually made this piece a scepter habit crystal, but we're just as happy with the result without out. Almost every side of the crystal shows distinct negative or skeletal faces which is sometimes referred to as a "window" or "Fenster" habit, though you can see a few well-formed, smooth prism and pyramidal faces on the reverse side of the piece. Lastly, when the crystal is backlit, you can see that it's incredibly gemmy inside, virtually WATER CLEAR in areas, and the combination of colors makes it all the more enticing. No damage, and no repairs, which is important to note for this material as many of them are broken when found and have to be glued back together. This piece is from the famous Foster Hallman Claim, named after the legendary figure who collected some iconic and beautiful specimens for many years at Hallelujah Junction. Priced at $900.
