Smoky Quartz / Amethyst ("phantom" crystal) (ex Brooks Britt Collection)

This piece is from an older find in the Goboboseb Mts featuring a superb, very sharp, rather lustrous, gemmy, prismatic crystal of Quartz with rich a rich smoky hue on the upper portion, which shows a slight purple Amethyst color and transitions into white Quartz at the base. When backlit, you can see the crystals is VERY gemmy, and shows several repeating internal "phantoms". The superior luster and textbook crystal form are about as good as it gets for the locality. This area has produced some of the finest quality and most colorful / attractive crystals of Quartz from any locality in the last 20+ years, which is really saying something considering the thousands of localities around the world where Quartz is found. No damage that I can find, but please note there are a couple of separation marks on the back where the crystals was obviously intergrown with additional Quartz crystals at one point, and came apart underground.
