Smoky Quartz

Item Description

This is a very nice example of the so-called "alligator quartz" that is now typical of this locality. However, smaller crystals are hard to come by! Most are far larger, and thus too big for most collectors. These are somehow formed from elongated smoky quartz crystals, perhaps in solution as they grow and perhaps by dissolution effects after formation. In any case, these extended, complex growth crystals are strangely beautiful. This single crystal is pristine except for very minor edge wear on the periphery, out of sight, and is a floater. Very geometric!
