Item Description

At first glance, this may not look like an amazing Tsumeb smithsonite - and it really is not, per se, on its own. But one of the most amazing things about Tsumeb is the nature of COMBINATIONS that occur there - and nowhere else. This specimen is interesting because it features native freestanding copper wires (crystals) growing upon smithsonite, both as masses and as sharp rhombohedral crystals. This association is rare, even for Tsumeb. This special piece was in the Charlie Key collection, which we purchased with Marshall Sussman from Charlie directly around 2010.
