Item Description

Here we have a lovely association specimen from the ancient mining area of Lavrion, Greece. At first glance, the piece is reminiscent of Mapimi, Mexico, but I obtained this directly from a good friend in Greece who collected them personally in the spring of 2015. The specimen hosts fine quality, gemmy, vitreous / resinous, gorgeous green spheroids of Smithsonite with associated white semi-spherical Calcite on host rock matrix. The main combo at the center of the piece make for a wonderful photo, as you can see from the first image. The largest Smithsonite measures 7 m across and the largest Calcite measures 4.5 mm across.
