Item Description

An excellent, unusual and uncommon CABINET combination specimen from the famous Kelly Mine of New Mexico. The pretty, classic, kelly-blue, smithsonite crystals themselves are unusual, being radiating clusters of tiny, frosted scalenohedrons in bubbly, botryoidal form and not being botryoidal or rice-grain forms. The richness of the undulating vuggy smithsonite is striking. Barite specimens are relatively uncommon from Kelly and much of the matrix is composed of iron oxide-tinted barite blades. So, we have here a rich and showy covering of unusually crystallized smithsonite (scalenohedrons) atop uncommon barite-rich matrix. Periphery wear is noted, but the rich smithsonite vug is actually in outstanding condition, overall. Valued at $600-800.
