Item Description
Lovely, curving plate of riveting, robin's egg blue Smithsonite from the great classic locality of Lavrion, Greece. These blue Smithsonites came out many years ago and were the best blues available in the 1800s and early 1900s, prior to the Kelly Mine material coming out. The layering of the Smithsonite from when the original pocket formed can be observed along the edges of the piece, with this sharp banding adding an inviting element to an already aesthetic miniature. These are still highly desired for their vivid color and old world history, and you can see why. Recently deaccessed from the Tim Sherburn collection. (He paid $400 for this)
