Smithsonite, one of Tsumeb's most coveted species for collectors, comes in a variety of attractive colors. The crystals here, which cover the matrix end-to-end, are a charming shade of rich pink that is enhanced by the excellent, pearly luster and the gemmy to translucent interiors. Up to about 7 mm on edge, the faces are finely striated, which is classic for Tsumeb Smithsonites, and the beveled edges of the rhombs make the crystals even more interesting. This large miniature is a fine, representative specimen of the sharp and colorful pink Smithsonites from Tsumeb. It has a better luster and sparkle than most, and is a big spot of color you can see from distance!
