Item Description
Smithsonite specimens from the famous Tsumeb Mine are about as diverse as any species from any locality. There is a remarkable range of colors, habits and styles for the species, and this piece is a great example of said material. This full miniature sized display specimen is a robust "finger"-shaped stalactite with a pleasing golden-yellow hue, velvety/vitreous luster and good internal translucency when backlit. If you look at the bottom of the piece, there is a small "stem" sticking out, obviously this is the point of attachment where it grew on the matrix. I don't think I've ever seen a Smithsonite that looks quite like this one from Tsumeb. The piece comes with an old German label from Hartmut Ulbrich that dates the piece back several decades to the days when Namibia was called South-West Africa. Priced in our inventory at $1,800.
