Smithsonite (Ruggiero Coll.)

Item Description

A showy, solid mounded cluster of glassy, gem-like, smithsonite scalenohedrons of a wide range of sizes from Tsumeb. Some of the crystals have a preferential coating of scintillating, tiny, oxide botryoids, which adds character and color. The largest crystal is 2.4 cm (doubly terminated) and is well-placed at the top of this excellent, two-sided miniature, with crystals on all sides of the piece. There are very few broken crystals, for all of the crystal density. Ex Ed Ruggiero Collection and purchased from the Zweibels of Mineral Kingdom in 1976.
