Item Description

A very unusual, rare and showy Santa Eulalia pseudomorph of smithsonite after calcite, the smithsonite having retained the shape of the cluster of sharp calcite scalenohedrons. The tan pseudos, to 4.3 cm, are intensely sparkly. The couple of broken crystals (in the back of the piece) reveal that the pseudos are partially hollow. Older and exceptional pseudomorph material. Ex Lipman, Morris Museum of Arts & Sciences and Whitmore Collections #1020.
