Item Description

Scintillating tan smithsonite has pseudomorphed a dramatic large cluster of sharp dogtooth calcite scalenohedrons on this sculptural and rich replacment from this famous Santa Eulalia mine. The large pseudos in the stunning jagged intergrown tapered "wall" reach 7.5 cm! The bruised and broken crystals reveal that these are smithsonite epimorphs or shells, with hollow interiors visible. The piece has several fine display views and the vuggy matrix is interesting in itself. Older classic material from the 1999-2000 finds. An exceptional large and classic specimen of this uncommon style. Most such pseudos have more isolated classic dogtooth crystals. Valued at $1250-1750. Try to find another like it.
