The Berg Aukas Mine of Namibia has produced world class smithsonites, as well as the world's finest descloizite specimens. This is a showy and rich combination piece. Willemite is uncommon but known in combination with smithsonite from here, even though this was a Zn-Pb-V mine. Sculptural curving clusters of sharp, lustrous, translucent, pastel-green, smithsonite rhombs aesthetically crest the mounded matrix coverted with starkly contrasting, globular, short prismatic, pastel-pink willemite crystals. Nearly pristine in the display view, with only trivial periphery wear on the right side. Rare, excellent and highly representative combination material from this very well-known locale. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection. Older material, probably from the 1960s or 1970s, as the mine closed in 1978. Valued at $750.
