Item Description

Well-crystallized quartz specimens are relatively rare from the famous and now-closed Tsumeb Mine. This rare and showy combination specimen, not only features sharp, isolated, upright quartz crystals to 1.7 cm (very large for the species and locale), but the matrix plate and quartz crystals also have a rich covering of glassy, translucent, colorless, smithsonite rhombs. The smithsonite preferentially coat one side of the quartz crystals. This is a rare association piece from this noted world-class deposit. Ex Rob Smith Collection.
