Smithsonite on Quartz (Fioravanti Coll.)

The Berg Aukas Mine of Namibia has produced world class smithsonites, as well as the world's finest descloizite specimens. This is an outstanding and rare combination piece. Quartz is very rare from here. Two, artistic clusters of curved, saddle-shaped, smithsonite rhombs with high luster, translucence and beautiful maize-yellow color are aesthetically set on a plate of sparkly, glassy quartz points. Very nearly pristine. One of the smithsonites has only trivial bruising and the quartz plate has only one spot of periphery wear at a corner. Adorable, most excellent and rare combination material from the Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and displays very well from several sides. Older material, probably from the 1960s or 1970s, as the mine closed in 1978.
