Smithsonite on Galena (ex Allen Heyl Collection)

Item Description

Please note, I am going off of the label on this one, I do not have a more specific locality. It comes to us from the Allen Heyl collection, who was a noted geologist from Colorado, and the namesake for the species, Aheylite. This specimen consists of a silvery-grey druse of Smithsonite coating rather sharp, lustrous, dodecahedral Galena crystals which measure up to 8 mm across. If anybody has any additional information about this piece or where it might be from, please let us know.
