Classic, old-time, beautiful "Kelly blue" translucent botryoids with silky lustre cover the matrix on this showy, colorful and excellent small cabinet from the famous Kelly Mine. Ex Harry Simon Collection of Rochester and comes with a Rochester Academy of Science label. The Academy was founded in 1881. The Geological Section was named in 1884, changed to the Mineralogical Section in 1935 and renamed the Mineral Section after 1947. Discovered in 1878, commercial ore mining ceased in 1957.
