Item Description
Spheroidal aggregates of rich rust-red smithsonite crystals with curved faces cover the large 3-dimensional old-time specimen from the historic mines at Lavrion. This sculptural dense crust is solid layered smithsonite zinc ore. The middle is gray smithsonite. The bottom has these surreal segmented smithsonite blisters with a partial overcoating of starkly contrasting bone-white smithsonite. Hefty zinc ore at 646 grams or 1.4 pounds mass. From an East Coast collection and comes with a water-stained, faded and torn century-old label. An excellent and rich old-time smithsonite classic from Lavrion.
