Item Description
The Potosi Mine in Mexico is more famous for silver in the real world, and for Creedite perhaps in the mineral world, and so a smithsonite from this location is a nice surprise. This large, shimmering plate of smithsonite has a crazy luster to it, and looks as much like velvet in sheen, as mineral. It is an oldtimer, probably 1970s-1980s era, and is in remarkable condition with no damage to the display face. This is from the significant southwestern collection of Gary Weaver. It was valued in the collection at $700.
