Item Description
Smithsonite from Lavrion is not terribly common on the market, and pieces like this are certainly hard to find. I've seen several pieces of blue Smithsonite from this locality, but this rich cuprian variety is certainly some of the best color you'll see from this historic mining district. This specimen consists of radial aggregates of almost "drusy" Smithsonite with a rich aqua blue color coating the underlying host rock matrix. Very fine color for the locality. The piece was mined in 2008 and is a great cabinet display specimen of this classic material.
