Item Description
A beautiful polished specimen of blue copper-bearing Smithsonite from the famed Hilarion Mine in Lavrion, Greece. Mining around Lavrion dates back thousands of years, and this area is still producing material to this day. This piece on the exterior may not look like much, as it's coated in iron oxides, but someone recognized the potential INSIDE as they decided to slice and polish it, revealing the beautiful banded patterns and gemmy blue quality of the Smithsonite. Specimen weight is 143.0 grams
