Here we have a fantastic, full cabinet sized, fine quality Smithsonite from the discovery in the summer of 2021 at the Yanga Koubenza Quarries in the Mfouati District of Republic of the Congo. The color and quality on this piece is reminiscent of the famous Smithsonites from the Kelly Mine in New Mexico or the classics from Choix, Mexico as it has high vitreous luster with good translucency. This piece features highly lustrous, gemmy, rolling botryoidal Smithsonite aggregates of a beautiful glowing greenish-blue color (due to copper content) on minor matrix. No major damage and high quality, better than the vast majority of the specimens from this find as the color, luster and gemminess are quite good for the locality. No more have been found for a couple years now, so don't miss out on this one as it's really choice for the locality and the species in general. Valued $2,000.
