Item Description
The various Smithsonite that were found at Tsumeb are celebrated for their divers styles and colors. Without question, some of the most recognizable examples of Smithsonite are the green copper-bearing specimens, like this one. This piece features flowing, sparkling, semi-botryoidal aggregates of beautiful rich green color Smithsonite, covering the underlying host rock matrix. The piece is in good shape on the top/display side, but there are a few small contacted areas where it was separated from the pocket wall. The back of the specimen shows more of a golden hue, presumably due to a lack of copper content on the pocket, The piece sits nicely on its own without a base or clay. Classic material from what many people agree is the world's greatest mineral locality. From the collection of Colin Manlove. Valued $1,500.
