Item Description
No locality has a great diversity of Smithsonite specimens than Tsumeb. The colors cover virtually every shade in the rainbow, and the habits / styles vary widely from piece to piece. This attractive display quality miniature features stalactitic formations covered in tiny, sparkling, translucent, honey-golden colored rhombs of Smithsonite. Excellent condition all over, with only a couple tiny "bruises" that I can see with the naked eye. A showy and now fairly hard to find specimen of this beloved material from the most prolific mineral locality in history. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
