Item Description
Smithsonite from Lavrion is not terribly common on the market, and pieces like this are certainly hard to find. I've seen several pieces of blue Smithsonite from this locality, but this one stands out for its form and beauty. This specimen consists of layered / banded light blue colored botyroidal Smithsonite coating both sides of the underlying host rock matrix. A ridge of small sparkling white Calcite crystals at the top makes for a wonderful "icing". Great color and a cool formation from this historic locality.
