Item Description
Smithsonite is one of the heavy hitters from Berg Aukus. These specimens are not always as colorful as their Tsumeb counterparts, but when they get good, they're great. On a whole, the Smithsonites form Berg Aukus are BETTER than those from Tsumeb from the standpoint of size and quality. This specimen features some remarkably large, cream colored Smithsonites crystals for this mine. These compressed rhombohedra have a silky pearly luster, with appealing stepped faces and fine translucency. The crystals are smartly sitting atop a small amount of matrix, but its just enough to create a great display specimen. A little bit of edge wear is the only thing keeping this from being an exemplary Berg Aukus Smithsonite, but make no mistake, it is still very good in its own right. A worthwhile Smithsonite from this classic locality! Valued at $1500 in the inventory.
