The iconic and beautiful Smithsonites from the famous Kelly Mine are arguably the most desirable examples of blue Smithsonite in the world. The combination of that fantastic color combined with the superb quality and size of the pieces makes for some truly impressive and memorable specimens. This piece features eye-catching, resinous / vitreous, translucent, lovely light blue colored, radial groups of Smithsonite measuring up to 7 mm across on matrix. The display side of the specimen is in great shape, but the outer edges are contacted where the piece was detached from the pocket wall. The piece honestly looks better in person. A fantastic example of this beautiful classic material from New Mexico. From the collection of Sean Lincoln, and originally from the Richard ("Rich") Kosnar Collection (1946-2007). Rich's his hand-painted catalogue number can be seen on the reverse side of the specimen (SM1289L). A good quality, undamaged specimen of this highly sought after classic US material.
