Item Description

A rich and classic, old-time smithsonite specimen from this ancient zinc mine, that closed in 1884. Mammilary, lustrous, iron oxided-coated, smithsonite rhombs fill the sculptural vug on this fine old-timer. The periphery reveals the radial, elongate form of the unstained smithsonite crystals. Hefty zinc ore at 651 grams or 1.4 pounds. Valued at $750.
