Smithsonite (classic Arkansas)

Item Description

A very sculptural curved crust of lustrous, rusty-brown hematite-tinted smithsonite botryoids covers the miniature boxwork matrix of sparkly microcrystalline smithsonite with a bit of starkly contrasting calcite on this showy and excellent miniature from the well-known Monte Cristo Mine at Rush. This extinct Arkansas zinc mining district has produced some outstanding smithsonite specimens and this is a very fine example of the uncommon style and color.
