Smithsonite, Calcite, Aurichalcite

Smithsonite from Kelly Mine is something you see in all older collections, and they usually all sorta look the same in terms of color and style. This one is not huge, or even perhaps highly valuable, but it IS interesting! The color is a little muted compared to most Kelly Smithsonite, more deep ocean blue than the usual shades of what I call surface blue, teal blue, or shallow water blue color. But, it is very, very sparkly, more than most smithsonite from anywhere. Atop the blue smithsonite is another layer of white coating at the base, which seems to be white smithsonite with no color (no clue why). Perched in among the hillocks of sparkling smithsonite are small 1-3 mm disc shaped calcite and tiny 1mm sprays of freestanding aurichalcite crystals. Old specimen from the Gary Weaver collection.
