Item Description

Very sculptural, 360-degree tapered knob of beautiful lemon-yellow, translucent, satin luster, intergrown, bubbly smithsonite botryoids from Wenshan, China. The gorgeous yellow color is from cadmium content. The broken base beautifully shows the banded smithsonite enclosing the matrix. These colorful specimens reached the market recently, but where actually mined circa 2002-2003 and held back for many years. They strongly resemble old classic and expensive smithsonite from the Masua Mine in Sardinia, Italy. Comes with a custom-made and engraved lucite base valued at $145 for free. A colorful, very fine and showy example of the species and locale.
