Item Description
Yellow-green, cadmium-bearing, translucent smithsonite botryoids attractively cover the sculptural specimen from circa 2002-2003 finds at Wenshan. The banded cadmium-rich layers covers an earlier generation of banded, translucent gray smithsonite. The gray smithsonite formed around a vuggy oxidized matrix. This material was held back for a number of years and was highly popular, when released. It resembles classic yellow smithsonite from Italy, Tsumeb and Mexico.
