Item Description
A very rare seen cadmium-bearing Smithsonite from the Granby Field in Missouri. Silvery colored botryoidal Smithsonite is colored a rich golden hue by the presence of cadmium. Some of these specimens can be labeled as "Greenockite on Smithsonite" or "Greenockite included Smithsonite", and while the species is reported from the area, every piece of Smithsonite that we've had analyzed turns up no actual Greenockite. The piece is in good condition overall, though it's contacted around the periphery where it was removed from the pocket wall. A wonderful cabinet sized example of this elusive classic material. Valued at $850.
