Item Description
Faceted gems of Smithsonite are not common on the market as they typically are not found in gem quality material. Most often, one will find polished cabochons of Smithsonite from various localities, but a faceted gem such as this is highly desirable. This "Oval Brilliant" cut stone has a very slight yellowish-golden hue, and even though it's not completely clean, it's still GEM QUALITY, which is an important distinction for the material. It has a bit of an internal "haze", which is certainly better in terms of clarity than the majority of Smithsonite out there. The fact that the stone is over 4 carats is significant, as one doesn't often see faceted gems in more than a carat or two. If you collect rare gems, or even specialize in gems from Tsumeb, this is a perfect stone to add to your collection. Valued at $422.00 retail.
